Janus

Janus, if you recall from your schooldays, was a Roman god who had the unusual distinction of having two faces - one looking forwards and the other to the back.

But, if you do a little extra research, you'll find that Janus was also the god of doorways.

Now, we all know that the Romans had some good ideas - plenty of male nudity, for a start - but a god of doorways sounds just a little bit weird and... well... quite simply unnecessary.

Our boy, of course, being an Eastern European, pronounces his name "Yanoosh" (or something like that - he happened to have had his mouth full at the time he was trying to tell us).

But we think that having a name that he shares with a god of doorways is pretty cool - and pretty appropriate, too, given that at the time we took the pictures Janus was half in and half out of the closet.

In the part of Eastern Europe that he comes from, gays still aren't accepted by everyone and it takes quite a bit if courage to take the final step of coming out as a gay boy.

We hope that Janus made the right decision in the end - just like the decision he made to sign up as an HMBoy.

And so maybe we'll look up this young love god on our next visit to the region so that we can let you know...
