Dalek

If you're a fan of cult TV series, you'll probably have already heard of Dr Who.

It's an English TV programme that's been running for the past 50 years or so.

And it's amazingly popular all around the world.

That point was driven home to us when we checked into our usual gay hotel in Prague and went into the lounge for a welcome drink.

There, on the set in the corner, Czech TV was showing a dubbed version of Dr Who... 

And glued to it, quite unable to take his eyes off the screen, was this week's HMBoy, an 18 years old cutie of the type that we know you like!

Of course, to get a conversation going we pretended that we'd never seen the programme before, so he felt obiged to tell us all about it with typically youthful enthusiasm.

The Doctor, he explained, is an inter-galactic time traveller who spends his time fighting various alien races who are trying to dominate the universe.

The most famous of these aliens are called, it seems, the daleks and our boy was so keen on telling us all about them that we've junked his real, unpronouncable Czech name in favour of calling him Dalek. 

If you look the TV daleks up on the internet,  you'll find that they resemble nothing so much as inverted dustbins who trundle around the universe intent on destroying everything in their path.  And, according to our new young friend, they were famous because, just as they ray-gunned their victims, they would  scream in high pitched metallic voices: "Exterminate! Exterminate!"

Though perhaps, in the case of our HMBoy Dalek, it ought more appropriately to be "Ejaculate! Ejaculate!"
