You’ll probably remember Cherub and Dyoma.
After all, they’ve proved to be two of our more popular HMBoys.
And so when we had a call from our photographer to say that the boys had asked whether we had any more work for them, we jumped at the chance of commissioning another shoot for you.
Unfortunately, though, it turned out to be one of those days.
We read a lot in the papers these days about Russia’s enormous energy reserves, don’t we?
But when it comes to actually getting power to Russian consumers, it turns out that the system’s not so good.
For, just as our photographer was about to start the shoot, there was a power failure in the district where he lives.
Bang went his studio flash set-up (well, thankfully not BANG! – but certainly at least PHUTT!)
And, with the boys on a tight deadline and needing to get the train back to St Petersburg within an hour or two, it looked like we might not get the pictures we wanted.
But the great thing about old HMBoys hands like Cherub and Dyoma is that they’re not shy any more.
Whatever inhibitions they once had are now long gone.
And so when our photographer suggested going for an outdoors shoot at the local park and boating lake instead, they were well up for it.
Thankfully, it wasn’t the weekend.
And, even more thankfully, even though it was a gloriously sunny day, there weren’t too many people about.
We actually think that, at the end of the day, we’ve probably ended up with a better set of pictures than we would have got in the studio.
And, with a total of more than 180 shots in the bag, our guy with the camera even thought so too.
So, we reckon, quite apart from providing us with considerable pleasure in the pics themselves, there’s a sound moral to this story: if you’re an investor who’s ever considering buying shares in the Russian electricity industry, then our photographer, for one, would suggest you think twice!
