Let’s start with the name.
“Rodger”?
Who the heck, we wondered, spells the name “Roger” with a “d” in the middle?
Well, it turns out to be a bit of a convoluted story.
And it all starts because our boy is majoring in college in Film Studies.
His hero, it seems (though, thankfully, not his physical role-model) is Alfred Hitchcock.
And Rodger’s favourite Hitchcock movie is North by Northwest – you know, the one where Cary Grant gets chased through a cornfield by a crop-dusting plane.
If you know the story, you’ll recall that at one point Cary Grant’s character – a certain Roger O. Thornhill – gets asked what the “O” stands for.
Whereupon he gives the immortal and utterly appropriate response: “Nothing!”
Boom! Boom!
Well, as a keen Hitchcock buff, young Roger (as he was born) added that extra “d” in the middle of his name just so he could provoke people to ask him: What’s with the “d” in “Rodger”?
Whereupon, in his best Cary Grant voice, he likes to reply that the “d” stuck in the middle of Rodger is usually a dick – or sometimes, if he can’t find one, a dildo.
Boom! Boom!
Well, we didn’t exactly say that Rodger had a keen sense of humor, did we?
But, if he isn’t exactly ready for a spot in My Name is Earl, or Will & Grace, or even Joey, we guess that Rodger does have one or two compensating qualities…
Thankfully, this young Hitchcock-nut is more than willing to show them off for us today.
And I Confess to having a sneaking Suspicion – in fact, I’m without a Shadow of a Doubt about it – that you’ll be Spellbound (if not, in fact, thrown into an absolute Frenzy) by Rodger’s most Notorious feature… which is, of course, his extremely welcoming Rear Window.
