Kale

If you’re a member of our sister site www.twinkacademy.com, you’ll know that one of our regular correspondents there is a certain Mr FL, whose particular pleasure lies in cutting boys’ hair.

 

And what a time, therefore, he’d have with Kale.

 

In this age of buzz cuts – where almost every boy you see looks like he’s just spent a week at a United States Marine Corps boot camp – Kale certainly makes an impression.

 

But in fact, contrary to what you might imagine, there seems to be quite a lot of interest around at present in the whole subject of long hair.

 

HMBoys’s favourite website www.wikipedia.com boasts a long and fascinating (well, to hairdressers at any rate!) page on “long hair”.

 

And there’s even something called www.longhaircommunity.com that describes itself as “a friendship-based community for those with a common goal of growing and maintaining long, healthy-looking hair.” As you’ll see, recent and riveting topics on their members’ discussion board have included such vital issues as “Question on micro trims and split ends”, “First hair fork excitement” and the somewhat plaintive “Spot on the back of my head.”

 

As far as we know, HMBoy Kale isn’t (yet?) a member of the Long Hair Community and doesn’t even know what a “hair fork” is – but he’s still determined to keep that style.

 

“When I was younger, a lot of the other kids in school used to make fun of me”, he tells us.

 

“They gave me a really hard time, calling me girls’ names and wolf whistling behind my back.

 

“But this hair’s always been part of how I see myself.

 

“I kept it then and I’m not gonna start changing it now.”

 

Bravo, Kale!

 

We like a boy who sticks to his principles.

 

Especially when they’re also cute, like bright-as-a-button Kale.

 

And even more so when they’re prepared to drop their pants for our camera and show us that their hair’s not the only bodily feature of which they can be more than justifiably proud!
