It's about time we got out and about on this site a bit more, y'know what I mean?

After all, the sort of lifestyle that most of us lead doesn't do us any good at all.

Staying out 'til 4am or longer…

Smoke filled bars…

Too many beers…

Not to mention substance abuse (so we won't mention it)…

And what about the heavy physical demands you put on your body in all sorts of other ways?

No, guys, it's just not good for you.

You need a change…

So today we're taking a trip to the big outdoors.

Maybe when it gets a little closer we can see it better…

Ah, damn! It's spotted us.

Many woodland animals are, you know, extremely shy when humans are about - especially if they notice that something long and hard is being pointed at them (guns… telephoto lenses… er… dicks?…)

But this particular specimen doesn't seem too worried by the attention.

In fact, just as we give him a closer visual examination he seems to be doing exactly the same right back to us!

Aren't animals wonderful?

In fact, this particular specimen appears to be so relaxed in our presence that he's going to discard some of his exotic plumage and make the most of the warm summer sun…

But hold on a minute!

Wow, are we lucky today!

You don't often see it - in fact many naturalists doubt that it ever actually happens - but I think we're going to catch this one engaging in its distinctive courtship ritual.

That's when the male of the species shows off all his best features in the hope of attracting a mate.

Oh yes, I'm right.

This is classic courtship behaviour…

And now, having shown us one of his most attractive features, this particular male displays his other fine attributes.

He offers a particularly welcoming smile as he does so…

Here, in fact, we see an excellent demonstration of Nature's tactics when it comes to encouraging the procreation of the species - although, I do have to say that this particular specimen appears to be showing minimal interest in the opposite gender.

In fact from the look in his eyes, you'd almost think…

And so we leave the dear little creature there as he goes on with this absolutely typical ritual.

It's a privilege, don't you think, to be able to get so close to Nature?

So I hope you guys will now be taking this lesson on board… Getting out and about in the fresh air a bit more… Taking long, healthy walks in the woods…

After all, once you're there you never know what you may find…

We're communing with Nature.

We're getting some fresh air… good food… healthy exercise…

And we're getting bored silly!!!

But just hold on just a minute!

What strange, unknown species is that, enticed from its natural habitat by the warm summer sun and wandering along the secluded woodland track towards us?
